Know When to Cite Your Work
Maybe you’re not sure when to cite. Here’s a handy chart to help you figure out when you should cite:
Cite | Don't Cite |
---|---|
When you have a quotation from a source (make sure to use quotation marks) | When you use your own words |
When you paraphrase | When the idea you are using is common knowledge or a generally known concept |
When you use specific facts from a resource | When you use any of your own ideas |
