Middle School Research

About

This website was created by three University of Texas iSchool students, Melinda Hodges, Sarah Traugott, and Heather Weaver, in the Spring of 2011.  Having dealt first hand with the lack of instructional research-oriented resources that exist for students, the trio built a dynamic and comprehensive website to address the problem.  Not only did they hope to make research instructional and simple for their users, but they also hoped to make it fun.

The Middle School Research website combines text, pictures, diagrams, downloadables, and charts with copious Internet resources in order to aid students with performing their own research related tasks.  The site is easy to use and takes each student step-by-step through the research and writing process.  The "Research Steps" section of the site is devoted to the stages of researching, including defining your task, finding information, and evaluating resources.  The "Research Planning Guide" will aid students in the writing and formatting of their papers.  The "Cite Your Work" section of the site will help students put finishing touches on their papers and will teach them when to cite their research.  An abundance of resources can be found in the "Tools" section of the site.
