Middle School Research

Task Definition - What am I really researching?

Make sure you understand the assignment

Ask your teacher if you're not sure what you're supposed to do.

Pick a subject that is not too broad and not too narrow.

You want to pick a subject that you can find enough information about but also isn't too much to cover for one project.

Examples:
Too Broad: Space
Too Narrow: A comet that flies by Pluto every fifteen years
Just right: Pluto and its moons
Too Broad: American history
Too Narrow: Women that were nurses at the Battle of Bloody Bridge
Just Right: Women's roles in the Civil War

Make a list of questions you want to answer

Think of the questions that you'll need to answer to be able to complete your project.

Examples:
How many moons does Pluto have? How long is Pluto's year? What elements are common on Pluto?

What kind of jobs could women do in the war? Who were some women that made major contributions during the Civil War?
